The volcano is still active, so the people living in the modern town still live with the risk of another eruption.
Pompeii has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997 as a joint listing with nearby Herculaneum and the Villa Opolontis at Torre Annunziata.

The ancient Roman underwater city of Baia
Meeting point: TBD

Saturday, July 06th 2024, 09.00 am
Baia is a pretty seaside town, in the province of Naples, in the Campi Flegrei area, near Pozzuoli, and in ancient Rome, both a.c. that d.c., had become a thriving health resort as well as a commercial and military center of extreme importance.
In Baia the numerous and majestic remains found testify to this; from the imperial baths to the sumptuous temples and the important ruins found underwater. In fact, the phenomenon of bradyseism has existed in this area for millennia, due to the volcanic action of the territory, which caused part of the important ruins to be submerged.
To protect all this, given the importance and vastness of these submerged ruins, the protected marine area of Baia was created in 2002: an underwater archaeological park of unimaginable historical and cultural value where it is possible to dive.
Price: € 100 (VAT included)
The visit includes:
- An English speaking guide
- A tour leader
- Headphones
- Private transportation packed lunch
The visit will be held only with a minimum of 15 people.
